Introduction to Racial Literacy

“The racial literacy training provided by Kind Enterprises was excellent. The session was thorough, easy to follow and facilitated a safe space for individuals in our organisation to share perspectives without being judged. It takes mastery to create a space like this and the Kind Enterprises team were nothing short of excellent in doing just that.”

Live Training Options

Because we’re genuinely interested in creating positive change we listen to where you’re at, what you need, and what you’d like to achieve, so we can create customised training sessions to suit your organisational context.

Customisable Programs:

1. Advanced Racial Literacy

Building a strong foundation of shared understanding is a prerequisite to effective racial equity and anti-racism. This session the recommended starting places for anyone wanting to engage in authentic efforts towards ending racism.

Advanced Racial Literacy will provide a comprehensive understanding of how the social construct of race influences every aspect of our lives, beyond the more easy to recognise moments of racial vilification. This improved racial literacy help build the capacity for effective allyship and allow for more informed conversations about race, racism, and racial equity.

Participants will learn about the parallels of all social constructs, how the idea of race was created, how it impacts society and where to begin if we want to genuinely want to contribute towards inclusion, equity, justice and social cohesion.

Participants of this program will learn about the difference between prejudice, superiority, bias, interpersonal and systemic racism, and gain a historical understanding of race so we can better contribute to undoing its impacts today.

Anti-Racism Leadership (2 hours - customised introductory session)

“This training was nothing short of amazing and was highly recommended to me by my colleagues. Very safe space. You will leave this session feeling empowered to tackle racism.”

2. Anti-Racism Empowerment

Building on “Introduction to Anti-Racism”, this session offers a more complex and nuanced understanding of racial equity and anti-racism in the workplace and in society.

Unpacking the themes of power dynamics, intersectionality, cultural safety, and subtle superiority, this session will develop the capacity to recognise and respond to the more pervasive forms of racism and racial discrimination, including microaggressions, systemic inequities, gaslighting, and saviourism.

Participants will be empowered to play a more active role in fostering social cohesion and equity with a social change lens that moves beyond the basics of “Diversity & Inclusion”.

Anti-Racism Empowerment (4 hours)

By far the best anti-racism training I have ever done. The presenters were incredibly knowledgeable, engaging and challenging in all the right ways!

3. Unconscious Bias Training

This session will first differentiate unconscious bias from other forms of discrimination and prejudice and then build awareness of how to mitigate the bias and apply a proactive systems lens.

Session content will include how and why unconscious bias forms, how bias functions, how it differs from overt racial prejudice, and the impacts of unconscious bias on learning, productivity, retention and organisational culture.

5. Anti-Racism for Media Organisations

This training program has been specifically designed for media and content creators, journalists, film-makers, producers, directors, artists, and executives in the media industry. Learn to recognise the difference between systemic, subtle, and overt racism and get clear on how you can plan your role in creating content that does not contribute to racism in society. This is an advanced session and will only be facilitated for those who have completed either Racial Literacy or Introduction to Anti-Racism.

Anti-Racism Empowerment (4 hours)

Very powerful and genuine presentation. A very inspiring and worthwhile training session. Would definitely recommend this to anyone.

4. Introduction to Racial Literacy

Racial Literacy is more than words and definitions, it also refers to the ability to recognise racial dynamics in society. This training helps you develop your foundational awareness of how race functions so you can have more effective conversations and consultations around racial equity.

You will learn key concepts, master critical vocabulary, and build your confidence and competence to talk about race and racism in personal and professional settings.

Anti-Racism Leadership (2 hours, customised introductory session)

“This was one of the best trainings I've attended in any workplace. Engaging, reflective and practical.”

6. Understanding Intersectionality

It is unlikely that any academic term has ever been misused and misappropriated as consistently as the term “Intersectionality”, and yet, the true meaning of this hugely important concept must play a central role in the design and delivery of any social policy framework or workplace cultural shift that seeks to contribute to equity, inclusion and socio-economic justice. This session will build on your awareness of this concept and clarify how you can effectively apply this lens for more just and equitable outcomes for all.

7. Advanced Cultural Awareness

Let’s move beyond the tokenism of “Cultural Awareness” and build a more complex understanding of culture as a worldview and how that impacts our lives, workplaces and society. This training session will give you the confidence to discuss culture and cultural differences with professional competence. Better understanding the concepts of saviourism, paternalism, cultural superiority and cultural fetishisation will improve your capacity for cultural safety and cultural sensitivity.

8. Inclusive Leadership

Learn how to become a more effective and inclusive leader by exploring core DE&I concepts, modern leadership skills, and the changing face of the workforce. This training will provide insights and tools to create an inclusive workplace that values diversity and promotes equity

9. Building an Anti-Racist Organisation

Learn how to create a more inclusive workplace culture by examining the impact of systemic racism on your organisation. This training will provide the tools and strategies necessary to transform your organisation into an anti-racist institution.
